What's On - September

The weather's warming up, the clouds are parting, and the sun is shining on the beautiful Gold Coast. It can only mean one thing - Spring has sprung!

September sees the exciting debut of the Burleigh Festival, major rock shows, race days, local food and fashion markets, art installations, surf competitions and local music festivals hit our shores, and we've rounded up the best of the best when it comes to what to do this month on the Coast. Check out our picks, and get in touch if you need any help booking something for your stay!

The Burleigh Festival

In it’s inaugural year, the Burleigh Festival is set to cram the soul of Burleigh Heads into a whirlwind three days of the very best of our little beachside town; think delicious food, incredible wine and beer, inspiring local music and, of course, the iconic local surf culture.

The festival is family-friendly and free, and will take place in Justin’s Park. You’ll find food from some of our local faves, like Freddy’s, The Tropic, Maman and Tarte Bakery. Live music from local musicians will also be as free flowing as the wines and beers, and there will be a surf competition hosted by Burleigh Boatriders and Summer of Surf.

Check them out on their website.

Markets and Festivals

HOTA Farmers & Artisans Markets

Spotlight on yet another incredible market set up on the Gold Coast - every Sunday, at the Home of the Arts centre in Surfers Paradise, you’ll find an incredible selection of local farmers, creators, bakers, cooks and more. It’s a great community market, and a fantastic way to support local small business.

Gold Coast Fashion Market

On Saturday September 10, Coolangatta State School will play host to the Gold Coast Fashion Market! If you’re a shopper looking for a great pre-loved deal, the markets will have over 10,000 pre-loved clothing pieces and 50 stalls at bargain prices. If you’re looking to clean out your own closet, you can register to sell as well.

Wonder at HOTA

HOTA is the Gold Coast’s art precinct, and in September the venue launches a huge program of both free and ticketed events. THe program, Wonder, will run from September 16 - 25, and includes the launch of Alcazar by Atelier Sisu. Celebrating the concept of ‘art-chitecture’ (appropriate, given HOTA’s indelible design), the installation will create a day and night light spectacular.

The program will also see the Daft Punk Experience performed by the Alternative Symphony, an a Candleight Concert paying tribute to Queen. Along with that, there will also be kid-friendly experiences, and dining under the stars.

Choice Homes Future Pro’s Festival

Just over Burleigh Hill sits Tallebudgera Beach, which on September 24 will play host to a group of up and coming bodyboarders with the Choice Homes Future Pro’s Festival. It’s a surf event and youth festival that looks to inspire future professional boardriders through face-to-face coaching clinics with Australian professionals.

There’s also a bunch of free activities, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for kids, pilates, balance soccer ball, boomerang painting workshops and more.

KISS 'End Of The Road' Tour

On September 10, the CBUS Super Stadium at Robina will erupt as rock n roll legends KISS bring their tour to the Gold Coast stage. The End Of The Road Tour is the biggest and best KISS show ever, and has been playing in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane throughout August.

The show has received incredible reviews. KISS are supported by Wolfmother and Tumbleweed on the Gold Coast, which is a great opportunity to see some Australian artists at the same time.
